Cruise
A moving and poignant story set to a soundtrack of 1980s pop hits, performed live, Cruise is a must-see play for 2022. Jack Holden writes and stars in this story of one man living with HIV and expecting to die before the next day. When death doesn’t come for him, he has a new reality to face – what does he do with his future?
Cruise is a powerful and vibrant tribute to the LGBTQ+ community during a dark time of fear and stigma. Set in Soho in 1988, the true story it tells will feel real and familiar to many Londoners. As it examines the era through the lens of one man’s last night on Earth, it delves into the deeper story of a community in turmoil.
Cruise opened to critical acclaim in 2021 and was Oliver Award nominated for Best New Play. Writer and star, Jack Holden, has a long list of credits to his name but is best known in the West End for playing the lead role in War Horse. The ‘80s tunes will be performed live by film and theatre composer John Patrick Elliot and the play is directed by Bronagh Lagan. Cruise is a powerful night of theatre, not to be missed.
